For the sake of the lemon tree: Me vs. Scales

I was bequeathed a dwarf Meyer lemon tree a little over a year ago. Its had blossoms and little fruits, but they have all been aborted. No fruit yet and it takes 9 months for full fruit goodness. Maybe the fact that I haven't turned the heat on and its a subtropical plant is a factor. Decreased sunlight from the winter? Or perhaps vermin. I have been fighting scales for almost a year. Nothing as scary as the wiki article, but really annoying. At first I tried a plastic butter knife, but this wasn't as precise as I needed. Then fingers and their nails, not bad. Soapy water (made from real water and real soap)? This is supposed to work, results not in yet. But my new favorite manual removal method is to use my Swingline Ultimate blade-style staple remover to scrape the scales to certain death. Burn Scales Burn!

GreenPan

Tired of your non-stick pan making you sick. Or, rather like me, tired of not using a non-stick pan because of its dangers? Were you, like me, surfing the net and then, somehow, finding out about a greenpan? Did you then buy one? I did and I hope it solves all my problems. BTW if you were actually interested, you could probably find on cheaper than that link.

We should appreciate the journey, but sometimes it'd be nice to get there.

LOSANGELES CALIFORNIA USA

Los Angeles:
14 – 20 May 2008

- Swimming in the Pacific.
o Watching friend being rescued by hunky lifeguard,
 Friend subsequently is exhausted falls asleep and gets sunburned
chest.
• Friend subsequently goes crazy from itchiness and tries multiple
products to alleviate said problem. It is determined that lime
juice applied directly to the skin is the only proper treatment.
- Driving
o It is almost necessary to drive everywhere in L.A. Horror stories of
traffic prove to based in reality.
o Driving with an angry driver makes things a bit more interesting.
 Esp. Mullholand drive
- Eating
o Apparently this sojurn was to be one which could almost be considered
glutinous.
 Pizza (x5), Asian tapas, grilled cheese ala Hollywood, vitamin water,
glenlivitch, vegetarian joints (x2).
- Biking
o 26+ miles on a single speed beach cruiser to Venice beach. I have decided
that while it fully documented to be less than hip, I like gears.
- Venice beach
o Welcome to the flea market / carnival of stuff that people never buy
- Malibu
o Beach, rocks, seal(s)ions, dolphin sighting and leaving a beach in the car
- Museums
o The Getty
o The Museum of Jurassic Technology
o The MOCA
o Geffin at the MOCA
- Dodgers Baseball
o $16 beer and nachos
o Misplacing car?
- Music
o The smell
 Where else can you see in noise rock in a unventilated venue
• Note: Record high that day 96F
- Miscellany
o Keeping high score on TH3 cruise ship
o “co-opt”, “probably true”

I am sure I forgot some stuff too.

Thanks BIG O for hosting.

a way of knowing. knowledge is power. tv can be such a vacuum. turn it off.

cetain shows that i used to watch when i was young leave me feeling somber now, when i encounter them. the shows ( i dont have a list), the thought of them, theme music. i have no specific emotional tie or connection or memory. weird.

Saturated fats make food delicious. Since I don't eat things with faces, this means coconut products mostly. you need to eat coconut milk.

2.
Roti:
2 C wheat flour
1 C Water
1 tsp salt
1 T oil

make dough. rest dough. roll dough into circles. pan fry dough very hot with no oil.
